We flew into Hanoi this morning to save time, as Steve goes home soon. Hanoi airport is about 45mins out of the centre, so like proper locals we caught the bus (2 in fact) in. Stopped for lunch and then found somewhere to stay for the night. Got straight onto sorting out our tours for the next few days, and Steve realised he'd got his dates wrong and actually flys home a day later than he thought. Bonus as now he can also do Sapa.
Spent the rest of the day, again just getting lost round the mass of streets. Walked round the lake and then thank god came across a Starbucks, and I was able to finally get a decent cup of bloody tea. I've had some strange versions of tea since being in Asia and especially Vietnam. They just don't get it and I never realised how beautifully British it actually is. Some more walking and we found a church, which looked very odd in the middle of Vietnamese culture. Finished the evening by going for some Pho Bo (Beef Noodle Soup) at a place a girl from Cambodia had recommended. It was delicious.
Treated myself and got my nails done as well this evening, they were in need of some pamper. O I also brought my 9th pair of sunglasses. Was getting ready to haggle, expecting her to start really high at something like 250,000 VND. And then she came out with 100,000 VND, in the shock I forgot about haggling and just took them haha. Need Chelsea back!
Well another early start in the morning, Halong Bay here we come.
