So, hello from Singapore!
We arrived yesterday morning, had an hours kip and spent the day and evening exploring the city. We've been suprised how much we like it here, there are pavements and we can walk outside unnoticed, it's heaven! Although it's lovely, we reckon we could get bored here easily, so we're glad we leaving in a few hours. Yesterday we met a camp and over-excited Thai man who painted the queen's portrait and now reckons he's best mates with her and that she will arrange his travel to England to see her. We were left wondering why he was working in a gift shop in Clarke Quay. During the day yesterday we went to Fort Canning Park which was like a tropical park in the midst of the city and was really lovely. We then wandered around the bay all day, and watched the sunset and all the city lights come on. We used Helen's returned map skills to find our way home.
Today we checked out early and walked the other side of the city taking in Little India and a Hindu mosque on the way. We're now hanging out out at Hangout as it's too bloody hot outside and everytime we go out we sweat like beasts. The hostel is perfect, free tea (!!), free internet, beanbag area with dvds. Nice en-suite room with crazy Buddhist from Virginia (there's some kind of festival here at the moment and are loads of buddhists around).
We can not wait for Tokyo...we saw some Japanese people prancing around in front of the camera yesterday, pretending to swim next to a monument and now we're counting down the hours till we get there...
