After a rickty bus journey to Bangkok I arrived and hunted down the (very nice) hotel Lucy had booked. I arrived, callopsed onto the bed and lay there like a soltan relaxing! I have never appreciated an air conditioning unit like I did in that moment! A bit of the "star movies" channel later I found myself in a bar outside the front of the hotel await Lucys arrival. Filled with nervs and excitment I waited and waited... progressively getting drunker!
Everntually I saw her little blonde head bobbing along, looking a little lost and concerned. I ran to her, grabbed her with my eyes full of tears! Incredible to have her finally here.
She joined me for my beer before we ventrured for dinner and a quick browse up Koh San Road's night market. Before we knew it we had indulged in some very tasty fried quales eggs, some soggy sping rolls... and a couple too many beers! We (more me than Lucy!) stumbled back to the hotel and planned an early morning rise....
11am we awoke! Both in need of a lie in we rushed to get to the train station. We had arranged to meet a couple from the Intrepid group... my god was I pleased to see them! I certinally missed traveling with them.
Lunch, coffee and a hunt for Harry Potter in VIP Cinema, bit of shopping and a pizza later we were off again... back to the hotel to meet Sam. My nerves and excitement all came shooting back. We waiting, me getting in more and more of a pickle! Turned out dear sammy hadn't written the hotel name down.. so off we ran to the police station where he said he cab was going to drop him! HE creaped up behind us - again the familiar face looked strange but I welcomed it with open arms :)
An intense shopping trip down Koh San Road and a few more beers we were back at the hotel all tucked up... ready for lots of sight seeing.
We began the day with a delightful walk through China Town, before a boat ride up the river. We went to Wat Po to see the reclining budda first. It was great being able to show Lucy and Sam around... amazing to share the experiances.
A wonder and mooch then lunch we darted off to the Royal Palace. A hefty entrance fee was soon justified once we had entrered. The Palace was so beautiful we were all blown away. The little mirrors made the whole building shimmer in teh various colours. I managed to make 2 of the guards laugh (they are supposed to be like the London ones) which made their off-duty guard friends whale!
Before we knew it we were equiped with cold beer, take away Chicken Fried Rice boarding our night train. 3 cosy beds were all made up and we enjoyed one anothers company before a rather distrubed and ricky nights sleep..........
