The Trekking adventure began on wednesday night at 9pm we were picked up from our Guest House along with two other backpackers Nina and Christina and we were taken to the Bangkok bus station for our 7 hour bus journey to Maesot. The bus we went on was pretty cool and the seats went back so it was like a bed but even that didnt make it any easier to sleep lol
Day 1
We got to Maesot at 4am where Mr Lar picked us up and we slept in his little guest house for a few hours which was much needed. We then went to a Thai/burmese border market but me and Lee were not really in the mood for shopping it was all the same stuff and as you can imagin we were still a little tired and all the stalls there were practically the same. After the market we had a bit of lunch and then we were picked up by public songthaew (half open pick up truck) The journey into the Jungle was going to take us 4 hours and we were advised that we should take travel sickness tablets as there were 1,219 curves in our journey so we took their advice on that one. The journey was stunning going through the jungle and seeing where the local live along the way. The only bad point of it was one of the girls that was on our trip had very bad travel sickness and decided to make us all feel a bit ill by spewing into a bag and then passing out and falling off her seat. Not really want you want to see when you are trying to have the time of you life and take in the beautiful scenery. After our long journey we arrived at our bed for the night which was a stunning little tree house in a village in the middle of the jungle. The views were amazing and we had dinner out on the terrace which was so peacful and the food was good to :-)
Day 2
We were woken up quite early had our breakfast and then got in a songthaew to the Mae Klong river where we were to be taken down the river in a raft . On the raft we just relaxed and took in all the beautiful nature around us, lee just had a little sleep check out the photos lol. Then we got to our destination had lunch and we were off trekking through the Jungle to our camp for the night. When we booked this we were told it's an easy family trek nothing too hard and as we have never done it before we though it would be perfect for us, but they lied lol The first bit of trekking nearly killed me but with the song in my head from finding nemo "just keep trekking, just keep trekking" i had to change it a little as you will understand that just keep swimming is'nt appropriate hehethis kept me going. Lee wasnt feeling very well at this point and i have no idea how he done it while feeling sick. I was really pushing myself here but after 4 hours of walking through the jungle with wellies on i was ready to give up. Once we hadgot to our camp for the night everything seemed a bit better and i stopped cursing Lee for making me do this stupid trip, even though i suggested it lol Once we got to the camp the guides set up our tents and made us dinner. It was a bit random as we were in a camp site with about 100 other tourists in the middle of jungle that night the mosquitos in the jungle decided to come and feast on my legs and arms not a happy chappy when i woke up covered in bits not a great look either counted 59 in total the b*****s. The night was really funny as the guide was getting drunk and the more he drunk the more randy he got lucky for me i kept mentioning that Lee my Tarzan was in th tent sleeping but i decided to try and set up the other two girls with the camp keeper (the most freekiest guy there who just looked at you and smiled like he was going to eat you lol then therewas the trip to the loo before we went to bed in complete darkness with only 1 tourch between 3 of us i was very very scared but being janes of the jungle we survived. Also they dont have loo roll in the toilets in Thailand but have a hose to spray yourself not great or easy if you are in the dark and it wasnt an average toilet but a hole in the floor nice i know.
Day 3
We were woken up at about 6am by everyone else in the camp. Have these people never heard of a lie in. The it was off to the Tee Loi So waterfall South east Asias lagest waterfall which was amazing me and Lee decided to go for a dip which woke us up a bit but wasnt the easiest swim in the world lol Then we had more trekking to do to get to the jungle village for the night this one was alot easier and more exciting as we were going over little bridges which was really amusing watching Lee's face as he was walking over them every bridge just looked like he just might break it and fall in but he didnt :-( At this point me and Lee were very happy with ourselves as the two girls that were on our trip were veterans in trekking but we kicked there ass they had all the gear and no idea me and Lee rocked in our wellies and they kept asking for a break all the time whic started to annoy us as we didnt want to keep stopping. The we arrived at the Karen Village Ko Tha which was quite amusing as they have a seven elleven there but not you avarage shop but a little shop a villager has opened in the front of his house. Outside out our hut there were little ducklings which the guide decided to hand me and i nearl dropped you know what my track record is with animals lol me and Lee then addopted a poor little duckling which we called sick dave cause he wasnt looking to good so we tried to feed him and make him a little stronger but it wasnt looking good. The villagers ddidnt really care and when we told the guide he shoved a stick up his bum and laughed (i didnt find that bit funny lol) That night we sat out on the verranda and had a few beers.
Day 4
When i got up in the morning i went to check on dave but when i found him he was dead the poor little dab i actually nearly cried. The when we were watching them getting fed a big duck sat on a duckling and vroke his leg it was like duck casualty here. At this point i was ready to take him home with me. Then the villagers brought the elephants around to our hut for the mornings elephant trekking. I was really excited at this point like a child. We got on the elephants and we were off throught the jungle it was wicked until the guide jumped off to open the gate and didnt get back on. The elephant then decided to just carry on which stressed me out because i was scared he would do a runner with us he carried on for a good 10 minutes and at this point i had all intentions of jumping off. Then the guide called the elephant and he started to make a b line for him the quickest way possible and nearly killed us. The hills this elephant were going up were amazing i was really scared but at the same time excited and amazed. Then the upsetting part the elephant was playing up and didnt want to wait for the elephant behinde so the guide waited for the other one and then took a pick axe off him and hit the elephant on the head with it. At this point i was going to kick the guide off the elephant i was really upset about it, it even made me cry and my happy elephant ride had ended and i just ewanted to get off. We then arrived at the boat and went back to the tree house for lunch and then on a local Songthaew back through the mountains with the locals. Christina spewed the whole way back and this time made me feel really sick the whole journey so i had to put in my ipod sing to Queens of the stonage and ignore everyone and concentrate on not being sick in a bag like here yuck. Once there we got back to Mr Las and then on the bus back to Bangkokg where we supposed to be heading for Trat and have now ended up in Pattaya. Lol all fun and games..........
