Unexpectidly we decided to go with Gareth and Elisia to Phnom Phen. We got on a 6 hour bus and headed to the city. We ended up in the backpacker area of Lakeside. The guest house we were staying in was the pits and afetr 2 days we found our lock didnt work in our room and had to move to an even nastier room. Neadless to say we didnt spend much time in the room and stayed mostly down stairs which was much nicer relaxing in a Hammock. While we were here we went to the Tuol Sleng Genocide museum. The site is a former high school which was used as the notorious Security Prison 21 (S-21) concerntration camp by the Khmer Rouge regime from its rise to power in 1975 to its fall in 1979. The school was really erie to walk around and it felt a bit strange being there. Not the happiest moment in my life but it made you realise all the pain and struggle these people have been through and how they have come out the other end. The we done the killing Field this is where they would bring the prisioners and kill them and then hide them in shallow graves. Some of the stories the guide told us were spine chilling and brought a tear to your eye. That night after all the sad things we had gone to see i decided to get very very drunk and at 25p a vodka and lemonade i was going to drink myslef happy lol. We had won a bottle of Vodka in a raffel after losing the pub quize in the Lazy Geko and decided we should all drink it. Then onto the Magic sponge where i was the new bar maid. May i add i was the best bar maid as we didnt pay for a single drink after that point and i got the two guys behind the bar smashed. I then become the DJ playing Def Lepoard and all my fave songs lol. I even created my own Cocktail - The Ankgo Wat Cocktail All the alcohol on the shelf a can of coke and a brick ( from under the counter which i told people was an original brick from Angor wat, i thought it was funny the people paying for the drinks didnt) At 6.30am i was taken home by Lee and then left to sleep on the bathroom floor. If thats not love what is.
The next day feeling a bit hungover we went to the water park, it was just like wet and wild was in the 70's lol the water was green and the slides were ancient. We still had loads of fun and the boys amused the Cambodian children by acting like plonkers and the slides and making even the life guard laugh. The we went into the wave pool after hearing the siren which made you think tehre was a bomb coming. When me and Elisia got there the boys were getting drowned by the children and both had about 7 of them around their neck. They love westeners either that or they wanted our rubber rings.
