Hello,
Sorry it's been so long since my last update. I know that I don't have a job and therefore have masses of time free but it's insane how busy we have both been this past few weeks.
China was an amazing adventure, much much better than we had expected, which was a lovely surprise. The countryside was vast and green with small villages and tribes women, and the cities were huge massive building sites with millions and millions of people living in 30 storey high flats. Totally insane.
We left China (sort of) temporarily for Hong Kong, "One country, Two systems!" Hong Kong was brilliant. Got to swim in the sea which was a change. The shopping malls would drive anyone to max out their credit card. We went to the peek view and saw the harbor, and had a posh drink in a bar called Felix, which overlooked the city. Was a really great night.
We then went back into China, and did a two day trek in the countryside, this was a really awesome trek. As we went to morning markets and ate loads of strange street food, and saw lots of spices and veg that we hadn't seen before. We had a guide with us so we were more able to interact with local people and learn more about customs and food!
After that we caught a cargo boat along the Mekong River through the boarder boundaries of Burma and Laos to reach Thailand. This took about 24 hours but was worth it, as we were able to kick back and relax watch the rain forests and small remote villages pass by and read books!
A hop skip and a jump later and we were in Bangkok, we had to go "express" style as we were meeting up with Craig's mom. It was great to spend a few days with Sue and Alan, we booked into a posh hotel near theirs and enjoyed a few days of intermittent sun and lots of swimming and "'appy hour" cocktails!
Back now to reality, sleeping in a room that's smaller than the size of our bathroom in the last hotel.... :( oh well. Next we are heading due east along the Thai coast hoping to reach some islands. After that we are going to continue east along the Cambodian coast to some very remote islands, national parks and beaches. Very excited by that at the moment.
We are also trying to avoid the terrible floods that have been wrecking many south east asian countries at the moment, I'm sure that it has been on the news, and its affecting many people's lives, we just want to try and stay well away from any areas that are a few feet/meters under water!
Byeeeee

Mum & Alan Great to see you both - so pleased we were able to meet up . We were wondering earlier today if you were still sunning yourselves by the pool at our hotel and enjoying another happy hour?! We are really envious! Lots of love.
