We had a great couple of days in Siem Reap and it's a shame we didn't have longer (that extra day would have been good had we been able to get the boat from Don Det on the right day but hey ho!). The temples are amazing and we saw as many as we could in two days. The first day we had a "Luxury Batmobile" in the form of a tuk tuk driving us around and the second day the tuk tuk we had was a bit smarter and shinier but not as distinctive when it came to finding it in a tuk tuk car park with 50+ others!
The main temple is the incredible Angkor Wat, which really is impressive, although slightly ruined by scaffolding and green mesh over part of the front of it. Probably controversially, we actually preferred one of the other temples called Bayon in Angkor Thom. Ta Prohm was also really good (the one used in the Tomb Raider film!). We really enjoyed seeing all of the temples in their different forms and degrees of restoration and the surrounding countryside was beautiful as well.
We had a few nice drinks and meals in Siem Reap (a pint of beer is about 64p!). I've tried to like it and did have half a pint a couple of nights ago but I think I'll have to stick to the cocktails and water!
The night market was not as impressive as in Laos but Adam got another t-shirt and we watched some Cambodian dance. It's very slow and by the looks of it you have to have very bendy hands so don't think I'll be giving it a go!
Our bus ride this morning was fairly easy down to Phnom Penh, although it wasn't the smoothest of rides where there wasn't actually a road for large sections!
The hostel in Phnom Penh we're staying in is really good. The room is ok and it has a rooftop bar and chill out area with free pool, use of a play station and movies! We've walked along the river tonight and through the night market, which is far too busy for us, and now I'm writing this as I sip a Mai Tai cocktail and Adam watches the Liverpool match in a local bar!
