OH MY GOD!!!
Well today we climbed Franz Joseph Glacier. I have to say it is the hardest thing i have ever done in my life, it literally took us to our very boundaries mentally and physically. It's so hard to describe unless you actually experience it. Although it was the hardest thing i have ever done (and i paid to put myself through it) i cannt believe i completed it. I admit there where times that i wanted to be heli lifted out of there but my god the sense of achievment is unbelievable!
Sadly my camera broke today which means i have prob lost all the photos so far and the photos from today which is a bit gutting but tha's life i suppose! claire also broke her phone!
It rained non stop which didn't help climbing the glaier but it just added to the experience. We started at 8 this morning and got kitted out with our waterproofs etc. then we had to climb so ice steps that the guides had hacked out, it was very dfficult for us as we are so short so it was hard to get up onto them and it didn't help that the ice shoes kept getting caught!!! we got to crawl through ice tunnels, walk down waterfalls and see some of the most amazing scenary ever imaginable. it was so physically destroying but looking back now i am back at the backpacker having had a shower and now warm and dry, it is deffinatley an experience i will never forget. Hopefully i can get my camera working so i an share the oictures with you all.
Sadly we leave bulli tomnorrow and me and claire head further down south, our bus leaves 7.45 and stos at fox glacier (there are only 3 simlilar glaciers in the world and 2 are in NZ....how amazing is that!!!) then we go to wanaka, which me and claire think we will stay overnight at before heading down to party central queenstown, which is where i am going white water rafting and going on the shotover jet. i may udate tomorrow but i may leave it till we arrive in queenstown.
