21st February- We've arrived in Hanoi after a 30hour bus journey (the longest yet) with the driver continuously stopping to pickup locals who gave him bribes. We got here and found a hostel in Hanoi Old town.
22nd February- Today we got up rather early and went to see Ho Chi Minhs Masoleum which closed at 10am. Ho Chi Minh was the Vietnesmese leader who died in 1969 and his body has been there, embalmed, ever since. They take him off for a 2month holiday to Russia every year for his body to be maintained. This was a very well guarded and strict place. No cameras, laughing, smiling, hands infront or behind your back was aloud. You were in and out of the cool room within about 15seconds with four guards around the glass coffin.
I wanted to go to the womens museum which id read about so we popped there afterwards for a look around and some lunch. It was really interesting to see what the lives were truly like for some of the women selling fruit and other jobs in Vietnam. A lot of them leave their families at home to work in Hanoi as the rice paddies don't provide all year around. They still make next to nothing.
23rd February- We booked a 2days and 1night trip to Halong Bay. We were shown pictures of an amazing boat and an itinery too match. As we got there the boat needed a paint job to say the least and we didn't do everything we singed up for. (Meant to so a full cooking lesson & made a spring roll :/) It was very rainy weather in Hanoi so I can see how it would of been much more beautiful in the sunshine. We met some lovely couples on the boat and made the most of the trip and it's food. We'll be visiting a lady who's a tour guide in Rome when were back :)..
Now to start our travels down south of Vietnam.
