Bula!
I left the octopus resort last Saturday and came back to the mainland to meet up with Zoe who I had previously met through facebook. We both happened to be in Fiji at the same time so decided that we should meet up. We shared a dorm for two nights and it was really good. On Monday I started my Awesome adventures tour. This tour had been booked for months and I was really looking forward to it. Oh what a huge disappointment it was! Firstly it wasn't a group tour like I thought it was. It was basically a ferry ticket with an accomodation pass. So you get off the ferry at the resort that they have booked you in at. My first stop was at Coral View. As soon as I got off the ferry I knew that this place wasn't for me and I wanted to leave straight away! The resort was very shabby, there was nothing to do, no sun loungers on the tiny beach and the food was very poor. For lunch when we arrived they served us rice with an egg. Then we were shown to our dorm. A room with about 20 bunk beds in! It didn't help that it was raining that day, but I knew that I would be on the ferry the next day going back to the octopus resort!
So thats what I did and where I have spent the last week of my holiday. I really love it there and it reminds me of paradise. I had made some good friends there before I left and surprised them all by coming back! I don't have much to report about this week because most of my time was spent lazeing on the beach or drinking cocktails in the bar. I did however, go on a fishing trip. There was 8 of us on the boat and out of everyone I was the only person to catch anything. I caught 2 fish. I don't like fish so when I pulled it out of the water nobody could get a good picture of me with it! I was just shouting errrrrrrrrrrrrrr get it away from me!!!! One of the fish I caught was a red snapper and was cooked for luch the next day. I gave it to Tom because I don't eat it. He said it was really nice and he enjoyed it! When it was brought to the dinner table it looked just as it had when I caught it, still with its head and eyes! YUK!!!
My last 2 nights at octopus were spent with some local guys Moses, Atu and leigh. I sat with them at the end of the bar drinking Kava. They were really nice and on my last day they sung me a Fijian goodbye song. They told me how nice it was to meet me and that they hope I do not forget them and that one day I will return. Of course I will never forget them, or the memories that my time here has brought me, and one day I would love to return and see them all again.
Although I was sad to leave, I felt that it was the right time to go and I am ready to move onto the next step. Which is New Zealand! I leave Fiji in about 15 hours and have a flight booked to take me to Auckland. I cant wait!
Thankyou for your messages. Keep them coming and i'll speak to you all from New Zealand. Bring it on!!!!
