We returned from our Amazon trip on the night of the 28th weary but satisfied. That night we walked to the square by the theatre and had a casual dinner with Rens and Caz.

The next day we had to prep for our upcoming boat trip down the Amazon to Santarem. We had acquired some free hammocks from a couple of travellers in the hostel but we went out in search of mosquito nets to cover them. Whilst out we also stocked up on supplies to keep us going on the 2 day trip as we'd been advised not to eat the food on the boat.

That night Wilson, from the hostel had offered to take Andrew and I, Rens and Caroline out for a special Brazilian dinner - to a rodizio. This is an all you can eat Brazilian BBQ where the waiters continuously bring large skewers with different cuts of meat to your table. We all shared a couple of bottles of red wine and gorged ourselves on meat! Our favourite was the picanha (rump steak) and Wilson kept asking the waiters to bring more of it. The rodizio also included a salad bar, sushi and desserts but it was all about the meat for us to be honest.

After the meal we returned to Gol backpackers and Wilson gave us all free coupons for caipirinhas at the bar - these went down very well and we all sat by the pool and enjoyed them. We took funny photos (see cover photo) and had a good laugh.

Wilson at Gol backpackers had been great and we had made some lovely new friends. We all agreed to stay in touch on Whatsapp/Facebook and we have ever since.
