Hi guys,
Ok, just got back from my trip to Uluru, amongst other places! Had such a wicked time!! Who would of thought that I could rough it!! :o) Not showered for 3 days, sleep outside in a swags, drunk beers and sang songs around a campfire and had to pee in the bush!! the REAL outback!!
Day 1- Ok, by this point i'm really starting to hate these early mornings, but got another still to come! Headed out to Uluru today, went to the cultural center to learn all about the importance of the place... then we did the base walk, which took about an hour... the it was off to cook tea and watch the sun setting over the rock... was amazing! a few beers later and all the food eaten it was off to our own land to camp out for the night... as you can imagine, i was s***TING myself, was mighty worried about things crawling into my ears but i really enjoyed it... not sure i slept much but that was because of the wind it was really stong and coming from all different directions... very weird!
Day 2- Another early start 4.15! Head back towards the rock to have breakfast and to watch the sun rising! again, another amazing sight! then it was off to the olgas, 'Kata Tjuta' for a 7km hike through the rocks, this place was amazing... see pictures! by 11am walk was over and we headed back to Uluru to have lunch before heading off to Kings Canyon! We were supposed to be roughing it in the outback again tonight, but the camp was infested with ants as it had been raining a week ago, so they were setting up home again... so we stayed a a campsite that had a pool, which was good. But we all still slept outside in our swags around the campfire... the good thing about this was they had proper toilets! YAY!
Day 3-Another early start- 4.00!!! we head off to Kings Canyon for a 10km walk which was really good, the views were amazing, because of our early start the walk was over by 9.00 so by 11 we had had lunch and were starting the 6 hour drive back to alice springs! We are all off out for tea and a few beers tonight which should be really good. Made some really good friends over the past week or so, i'm so glad that i decided to getthe trip here instead of flying... feel like i have seen the REAL Australia!
