Well...where to begin. Its been a strange week or so since I last wrote and everything has been turned on its head.
I left Antigua on the Friday and arrived at the beach in the middle of a typhoon. It became very clear very quickly that I wasn´t going to be happy at the project. It wasn´t the project´s fault, its me (well the hundreds of thouseands of mosquitos didn´t help!). I think I must have changed a bit, maybe grown up a little, since coming back from Brazil because it just didn´t seem fun living in basic accomodation in the middle of nowhere anymore. So after several teary phonecalls to my poor Mum and a lot of soul searching I decided to leave. I figured that I´m old enough to know what´s right for me and the project wasn´t.
So I find myself back in Antigua living with the same people as when I was at Spanish school, luckily we kept in touch and they were really worried about me and invited me back. Its lovely to be back with them.
I have made some plans for the next six weeks so don´t expect to see me too soon! Firstly I hope to join a tour of Guatemala, Mexico and Belize that leaves on Friday. I just need to ring the UK and book it so keep your fingers crossed there´s a space! So that will be three weeks of exploring jungle, Mayan ruins and fabulous beaches in a fun organised, safe kind of a way! Then I´m meeting up with Felix, a guy I met at the project, and we´re going to take two weeks to travel down to Honduras and learn to dive on the Bay Islands (look them up, they look amazing!) which I am incredibly excited about! Then I guess it will be back to Blighty to look for a job and get sensible!
I hope that explains a bit about how and why I came to my decision to leave. I should have listened to the doubts I as having before I left but I know that I hadn´t have come I would have regretted it. Plus now I get to have a great time travelling about and learning to dive!!
Lots of love to you all xxx
