Time to say goodbye to Xi'an. I am currently sitting in reception waiting for time to pass so that I can get the bus to the station. Some odd Chinese man is trying to talk to me but his English is bad so god knows what he is trying to say. Smile and nod.
I also want to quickly mention that one of the guys in my dorm was called Little Fish. His name was Little Fish hahaha
The last two days have been interesting. I cycled 9 miles, yes 9 miles around the old city walls. It was quite cool to see the whole wall but left my legs dead the next day. We also tried out a restaurant recommended in my bible (lonely planet guide) and it was amazeee! I had lamb on a stick again, veg casserole which I was excited about because it had potatoes in the photo and I also ordered some steamed rice. My veg casserole did not have potatoes in, it had quail eggs in :| and jelly noodles and other weird things. It was nice though, despite the weird things. Kate ordered a tofu dish which was really nice it tasted like fish and had green beans in it and French fries ha. She also ordered green beans which were good until you had a Szechuan pepper! That stuff makes your mouth numb, like literally numb and the dish had 100s of pepper in. Very strange. Greg had beans with beef and rice. The food was soo good. We are so much and wobbled back to the hostel. It cost me like £3 with a drink.
Yesterday we caught a bus to the terracotta warriors instead of doing a tour which worked out cheaper. On the way the bus ticket lady started shouting in Chinese and made the people who were standing up crouch down so the police wouldn't see them - this happened 3 times hahaa. The Warriors were interesting, worth a see but not amazing. I'm glad we went to see them though they all look different and it's strange that there are so many of them. They are still excavating them and sticking them back together.
I have a 16 hour train this time, again hard sleeper but middle bunk so I'm hoping it will be better. This lady wouldn't let me swap my book because she said you need two books to swap for one and you need £10 deposit to just read it!! Whaaat who carries 2 books around and why would you want to swap them for 1 and also why would you pay £10 to borrow a book. This hostel loves charging you for everything.
Today I went and found the cheapest book I could find, it was 50p and I don't know what it was about because it was all in Chinese. I rushed back to the hostel because that lady wasn't on shift and I swapped my books with a different lady for The girl who played with fire. She was a bit confused but I was pushy and swapped them and said 2 for 1 and walked off. She seemed okay with it.
Next stop is Chengdu. Land of the pandas.
