The Great Escape
Temperature: 12C to 30C sunny days and starry nights
Highlights: We were lucky to be hosted by the royalty of San Pedro (Maurizio and Francisca), old friends of Rodrigo. San Pedro lies above 2800 metres and is home to 3 great restaurants (Blanco, Adobe and Estaka!) and house parties till sun rise or cops arriving (which ever is the first). After the Red Centre the Valle de la Luna has been our second Mars-like experience, including an unimaginable sand dune (Suz has never seen sand before). The Salt Plateaus, home to 3 types of Flamingos, which stretch as far as the eye can see really is some of the most bizarre landscape in the universe. The lagoons of the Altiplanos lie above 4300 metres making them some of the highest lakes on the planet - literally breath taking (moving too quickly is not an option).
Disappointments: The royalty's pool wasn't ready yet.
Other: You cant walk across town without seeing everyone at least twice. People are very welcoming.
