Okay, so the journey to Washington was a little hairy. There was quite bad turbulence between St Louis and Philadelphia, however the worst was to come on the 30 minute flight between Philly and Baltimore. Unfortunately our flight was timed to arrive about the same time as a big 100mile tropical storm front came through the east coast. The rain on the way to the hotel was so bad we could not see in front of us... thank god neither of us had to drive. After arriving at the hotel, we spent about 1 hour at the hotel waiting for the rain to settle. We decided we'd be brave and go out in the sprinkling weather. We decided to go and look at the White House. It is quite amazing, but very heavily guarded. We got some great photos! We then just wandered around the streets trying to familiarise ourselves with the numbered and lettered streets, eg, we are staying on L Street at the corner of 11th Street. Quite easy to follow really. We got a bite to eat at this fast food cross with a BBQ restaurant and then wet to a couple of shops before heading back to the hotel for a good nights sleep.
