Sept 4- St John's, Newfoundland
It's Labor Day here as well. Most of the shops were closed when we got off the ship at 0930am, and we weren't sure they would open!
We walked to a hotel and found a flier for Legend Tours. I called and they were able to squeeze us two in the van.
St Johns was founded in 1527 and is the oldest town in North America.
Cape Spear most easterly point in North America and has two lighthouses.
The city was mostly burned in the 1892 great fire .
Newfoundland joined Canada in 1895.
Petty Harbour - cod fishing, quaint little town with an aquarium
Courthouse- ghost Katherine Snow, hung 2 days after giving birth for a crime she didn't commit. She haunts the courthouse steps.
Raymond's restaurant - VERY expensive.
