Our stop off in Singapore was short but sweet! We got checked into our hostel about 12pm and decided to have a little sit down on the rooftop before we went out exploring. We hadn't been sat down 15mins when the torrential rain started! This was a bummer, but not uncommon for Singapore. We got chatting to a nice English couple too, Emma and YET ANOTHER Sam haha.
Eventually the rain eased off about 4pm so we went to the nearest food court. These were about the only reasonably priced places to eat in Singapore... In comparison to the other countries we've been to in Asia, everything was very expensive! But I guess it eased us back into 'real' prices before getting to NZ!
We spent the rest of our evening in the Marina Bay area, which got more and more beautiful the darker it got and the more lights that came on.
We had a slight bit of de ja vu from Kuala Lumpur... We felt very scruffy in this posh area!!
At one point we just sat on the sun loungers by the river, people watching, which is never boring in big cities!
We set off fairly early the next day as we were very excited for our trip to Singapore zoo!! We made our way there with Emma and Sam as they had made the same plan for that day. I think they were equally excited!
We have come across many zoos on our trip but this was the only one we wanted to go to as a lot of it is open and the animals are supposedly treated much better!
Unfortunately as soon as we arrived the torrential rain started again. The afternoon was much better though!
We had also got a ticket to the Night Safari which was open from 7.30pm until midnight as we had heard great things. The zoo had been surprisingly quiet in the day and we were expecting the same for the Safari. We didn't think about the fact that it was a Friday night... Meaning the Night Safari was very hectic and unfortunately we didn't get to make the most of it. However it was a very different experience and we got to see the Tiger being fed- Samuels favourite animal! I think after our day out my new favourite animals are giraffes! They're so cool!!
We fell into our beds as soon as we got back about 11.30pm!
The next day it was time to fly to Auckland, NZ!!!! It was strange enough going to Singapore after 7 weeks in Indo, but leaving Asia after nearly 6 months was an even stranger feeling! We were like excitable kids looking forward to the next part of our trip, but also very sad to leave the beautiful area.
The trip went well and we took full advantage of the free food, films and drinks on the flight! We arrived Sunday afternoon NZ time (11hrs ahead of England) to a very chilly but lovely Auckland :)
Unlike Asia the wifi is much less readily available here so I'm not sure when our next blog will be... To keep you all in the loop, we will be flying to Queenstown area on Wednesday where we will actually have to look for a job ahhhhh!! Alongside this we are also gonna be hitting the slopes and I get to see my girl Millieeeeeeee!!!!!
