Highlights of India....
Namaste ya'll!
Well, partly because of the lack of any half decent computer in india, and party because I've been a bit lazy, i've been travelling over a month and failed to put anything in my blog. Thought i'd give you guys a brief overview of my time in india and just mention the highlights. Promise to keep up with it more in the future.
We started off in Mumbai and after getting used to the MASSIVE culture shock - the general filth, cattle in the road, mental drivers and constantly being hassled by limbless beggers - we started to like the place. Managed to get involved in the bollywood scene by doing some extra work. Got offered a part in an advert for Compaq computers. Was hilarious! The photo's (which should be here someweher) don't really do it justice as they make it look kinda glamarous - which it definitely was not!
After a brief trip down to Goa to relax on the beaches we headed up to North India to see Rajesthan. The hightlight of this area was probably Udaipur. It was gorgoeus here, somewhere I'd defo like to come back to. Lots of palaces set in lakes etc. All very calming after the buzz of mumbai.
Jaisalmer was another great place. We managed to do a 2 day camel safari which was ace. My camel, 'Caloo', seemed to feel the need to take me through every cactus plant we passed. As a result my legs were a bloody mess. Always an attractive look! After 2 days of camel riding we were all aching. Didn't realise how painful it was going to be. Al had a bit of a disaster with his camel too. She turned out to be a a complete nightmare and was always about a mile behind anybody else. Plus often refused to walk at all. Al says it was because she was a girl. Personally I think it was his rubbish riding skills. He did look the part though in his turban and full camel riding gear (see pics). Though my 70s kaftan and cricket hat combo were a bit of a disaster too.
Jaipur was cool mainly because Haps was there to show us around. Her and her family were all lovely and made sure we experienced it all. Lots of fun and the first real taste of alcohol for a long time.
Went to Agra for a night to see the Taj Mahal - basics! Was awesome and well worth seeing - but Agra itself is a bit rubbish so its not worth sticking around for long.
Finally had a day in Dehli before flying out to China on Etjiopian Airways. Sadly we arrived in Dehli on the day of Ghandis birthday and the end of a festival. So the whole place was dead and nothing was open at all. So didn't really get to see Dehli in all its glory.
Errrrm think that about covers it. Im sure Ive missed loads of good things out but if they come to me ill add them in. Did a bit of yoga and meditation, but i'm afraid to say im still yet to find any inner spiritual peace man.
Overall I really loved india, but was very ready to leave after a month. Defo plan to return in the future though.
