Yesterday we went on a cruise on the Li River for four hours. The scenary was pretty amazing how ever the sky was very hazy and cloudy so we couldn't see very far. Went to a small town called Yangshao which was interesting. We went for a walk at night and saw the pagodas lit up. It felt surprisingly safe wandering around late at night with kids out and much happening. We had dinner at a very busy restaurant at midnight where they spoke no english. Smoking is permitted nearly everywhere including in restaurants and elevators, which is hard to get used to after NZ. Today we visited some parks in Guilin which had significant meaning to the area. This included a hill that looked like an elephant and a park named after a famous general. We visited an art gallery and a silk factory before visiting the fantastic reed flute cave. The formations in the cave were amazing and the cave was lit with artificial lighting, which was both cool and kind of ruins the cave at the same time. We had a really good lunch including dumplings and some new dishes that we had not had before. After that it was a pretty lazy day. Tomorrow we catch an overnight train to Chongqing which will be exciting.
