Lake Wanaka
When i arrived in Wanaka i was happy to see that it was sunny and the place was beautiful. The lake was so differentto Lake Tekapo. It had a small pebble beach wich went down to softer sand, greenery all around, willows by the water edge and massive green hills at the far and of the lake. It was stunning.
I walked to the hostel with another girl off the bus, which was nice cause i didnt have the energy to find the place. When i got there i told the guy who was a bit nuts that i had booked up a place on the internet. I think he thought i was nut, and told me i hadnt. I said i had but he said i could have. In the end it turned out there was space for me in a dorm anayway-what a prat!!
I looked around the town and decided it would be a nice place to live; a few bars ( not with this hangover tho) and shops, quite quiet but eneough to do. I sat by ther lake a met a frien i had made in Blenheim as he was staying here for a bit. We were ment to be going out for a drink but as soon as he saw me and herd about my night i was understood that i would be going nowhere. So we had a good old chin-wag about our travels by the lake side and watched the sun set over the hills. The view was fantastic. After that it got a bit cold and i headed back to the hostel to get some tea and a good nights sleep. Unfortunaltly the good night slppe never happened as i was sharing a dorm with boys who smelled, and the one above me kept tossing and turning and it did my head in.
The next morn i had to get another pre-booked bus to the glaciers which was a shame as it would have been nice to see a bit more of Wanaka. As i left the hostel the crazy receptuon guy told me he would ahve to chec my bag. I was so shocked i could believe it. I said why. He said in case you have nicked anything. Cheeky git! He then told me that it was an airport and that they have to do security checks. This guy was clearly off his rocker and i told him so. He said you have to be to work in a place like this. Thank god my mate had confirmed that the guy was a nut, and not me, as he had stayed here previously.
