so I know that it has been forever and a day since I last updated my site, but you are about to get an overload of blogs =) I am going to recap everything that I missed - so don't worry, I did not leave you hanging. Munich, Germany - well before actually getting to Germany I thought that I was not going to like it all, but I was sooo wrong - love love love Germany. We were only there for 2 full days and I wish we would have been there for so much longer. The people in Germany were the friendliest people of the whole trip and the city was just so cozy and homey. Most of the other cities we have gone to, it has been tourist overload but Munich was different. I did not necessarily like the art museums we went to because they were the fabulous modern art museums again - who am I kidding, those are my favorite..no not so much. We were all really excited about one of the museums though because we had heard that it had the fastest bmw that had ever been built - I wish I could go into more detail, but let's just say that me and car lingo are not the best of friends. But I still really wanted to see it - so let me paint you the picture of seeing this car. We walk up the exhibit where it is being held and there is a man standing at the door (the big steel door that is) handing out blankets - and we all look at each other and are like we aren't cold, but he informs us that we will be. So we wrap ourselves in blankets that have been used by I do not even know how many more people before me (oh yes, I was being a brat and complaining) - any who, he opens this huge door and a burst of cold air comes out, and we walk in to find a car covered in ice - I wish I could say that the car was amazing but all I could see was ice - apparently this is modern art ladies and gentlemen. Needless to say, we all left the museum immediately following our wonderful car experience. So the museums in Munich, not so fabulous - the city itself, ABSOLUTELY fabulous! There was a huge festival going on the 2 days that we were there because it was Munich's anniversary - I can not remember exactly how many years though. But the streets were lined with different street vendors selling tons of beer and sausages - so maybe the food was not that fabulous to me either. There were different stages with dancers and bands and singers. The streets were just filled with people and it was really difficult to move, but I think that that made it that much better. All of the shops were closed though because of the festival - I was a little bit upset about that because everything in Munich was far less expensive then the rest of the cities we have been to - so my self-control would have gone out the window: moral of the story - good for sammar's bank account that no shopping was involved.
Since we were in the beer capital of the world, of course we had to go to a beer garden! We went to Hofbrauhaus - it was absolutely ridiculous! I have never seen so many people drinking out of the biggest mugs in my entire life. Munich does not play games with their beer. I am pretty sure that I saw men and women who were at least four times my age just drinking away. There was a cute little old couple sitting at the table next to us. They did speak a lick of English and we did speak a lick of German, but the old lady was a flirty one - she kept making all of our guys dance with her, it was quite humorous. Everybody, except for me of of course, really enjoyed the food at Hofbrauhaus too - they had basically every kind of pork and sausage to choose from - all of the boys were in beer and sausage heaven, while I on the other hand was far from heaven.
On our free day Sunday, we decided to go the Munich Museum. It was only me, Clair, Crupie, Fluff and Boozer that went, everyone else basically made fun of us for going to a museum on our free day but we had heard good things about. It was awesome! You could easily describe it as the German version of the Smithsonian. We did not get there til about 3:30 and it closed at 5, so the women at the front just let us in for free - we did not have any complaints. At first, we did not see how we would need more than an hour and half but after the first 5 minutes we realized why. This museum is like the neverending museum. We all eventually split off and explored by ourselves and when we met outside all of us had seen 3 - 4 exhibits each and none of them were the same. They had boats, airplanes, bridges, hydraulics, etc. It was beyond dorky but still really cool. The best part was the "ride" outside. You will probably see it in my pictures. It was some kind of airplane ride where you had to use the attached wings to move yourself and make yourself flip upside down as you went higher and higher. I came really close but never actually got there - I was proud of myself
I am sure after reading this, you are probably asking yourself - how exactly did I absolutely love Germany? I think it was because it was such a change from every else we had been, but it was not completely far off from home if that makes sense. The people and the environment made me feel like I was apart of it and not just an outsider looking in. It was extremely refreshing and just what the doctor ordered~
