Hello there. You've reached my new travelling blog - an exciting guide to let friends and relatives know that I'm alive/sleeping/eating well. I hope you're all doing well and that the hosepipe ban hasn't affected you much.
Starting off with NYC, and after a crazy taxi journey where our driver decided to neglect concepts on suspension, we arrived at the hostel on Central Park and got down the local sports bar to watch AC v Barca. The culture is just so different over here...
We did all the touristy things as you'd expect (saw a man propose to his gf on the top of Rockefeller Centre - guys got game) and went to a lots of Irish bars, where in one we (and Seattle Ryan) set the world record for the longest game of round the clock darts. I won though - standard. Even been for a morning run around Central Park, but that's about as far as the fitness regime has gone.
We saw NY Red Bulls beat Montreal 5-2 at the Red Bull Arena (complete with song sheets!) which was basically Thierry Henry and 21 others. The standard was so bad that even Super Kenny Cooper looked a capable player.
The main thing to take from New York is the amount of mentalists that are roaming around. Doesn't matter where you go (even museums), you're never more than 20 yards away from someone who'll randomly shout at you.
A short megabus ride to Washington DC placed us in some sort of ghetto, where we casually strolled past someone getting arrested for shooting someone, and we chased out of Hooters (lads) for being the only white trash there.
Capitol Hill is cool, and doubtless you all enjoyed my hilarious Washington Monument photo. We went to the Air & Space Museum, where I was branded a 'beast' and asked whether I was a science teacher by some American kids after getting a few questions right in the interactive quiz they have there. Wasn't even wearing my tweed jacket!
We then hit Philadelphia, where we stayed in a remote motel way outside the city, and manage to experience both the worlds most retarded taxi driver and the worlds most retarded hotel staff - and feared for our lives the first night.
The city is alright though, and we saw Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell etc. Went for a kick about in a park and then went to some bars and met some 'attorneys' who we ended up going out with and putting our English accents to good use. I nearly lost the football (soccer-ball!) to a tramp, and ended up being very sick that night. Bantcam will back that up.
So currently in Boston, watching the Masters without having to stay up past midnight (living the dream) and having a celebrationary tube of Pringles as Man Utd seem to wrapped up the title.
Follow me on Twitter @bonehead_51 if you're in the 21st century, but if not I'll write again next week(ish).
All my love,
Beast x
