Sams Adventures
Bangalore, India
Bangalore is a mixture of emotions and thats the best way to descricbe it. With its choking pollution and dangerous traffic, uninviting stares from the locals and the slow pace thats hard to get used to, you would think it was the worst place on earth. But on first inspection this is the impression you get. As i began to understand the culture these first impressions begin to fade. Not being able to catch a rickshaw eventually becomes a joke and so you can only laugh and argue with the drivers.
Getting served in a restaurant is also a timely process, as with most things in india. I guess its because im western and used to things being done at speed. Infact though i've learned to apprieciate the timely process. im not always in a hurry and sometimes its nice to sit back and relax and not be rushed through as if a restaurant doesn't have time for you to be there.
Some days in Bangalore you want to crry and scream at every little thing that goes wrong and just cant wait ton get home but other days i'll love all the quirky things tht make india, india. The haggling to even the cheapest products that much cheaper, the gorgeous bars and restaurants that are discreetly tucked away from the prying eyes of all india to see and the occasion nice indian person thats happy to sita nd talk to you about there culture and what they do.
Despite all the unwanted leering stares and pushiness of some locals there are a lot of really nice people in india that would love the chance to talk to me as well. I love all the bargains you can get too, cheap indian sparkly shoes, next to nothing jewellery and even the western shops like levis are stupidly cheap and happy to alter them to fit you perfect at no extra cost.
The smells in Bangalore and the beggers are something that im not sure i will ever get used to. my heart goes out to the beggers but with so many older and wiser indians telling us not to give money to them, especially the children, because it probably gets given to their parents who are drug addicts or alcoholics, its very hard as they all are so innocent.
One day i would like to go back to Bangalore to visit, although i wouoldn't spend a substantial amount of time there again. I love the bars and the shopping. I love it when the monsoon rain takes you by surprise and there is no where to shelter. I love the wobbely head thing that seems to answer every and any question, but without you knowing the answer. I love and both hate the way people are so intrigued by you. Staring is mainly how they do this but even the funny questions they ask you and always wanting to know where you are from.
I'll miss the excitement of India, always going to somewhere new, meeting new and inspiring characters, never knowing what will happen next and you know it will be a drama.
