So after leaving the rather wet and cold Melbourne i got a plane up to Queensland for some heat.... and its now here - brilliant!
I am now a fully qualified SCUBA diver..... we spent 2 days learning the basics in a pool then we set out to 'saxon reef' - the great barrier reef (but martyn might know the patch) we had 2 dives in the day off a small boat and saw loads of crazy colourful fish... a nemo (clown fish) and these funny sea cucmbers that you can pick up and they stick to ur hand as ur sat on the ocean floor....
then we jumped (in the middle of the reef) onto a bigger boat where we were to stay for one night... we had a dive of this one and saw a white tip shark and sting wray (only small ones and the sharks are big scardy cats - so dont worry mum i still have all my limbs) we were fed plenty then went to listen to a little band (the crew) on top deck at night, floating in the middle of the reef... amazing - u couldnt see land any which way you looked... then up early the next morning for more diving... now slighty exhausted - the current was a bit stronger today but the sun was out and there wasnt a cloud in the sky. then we did our last dive without the instrcutor and we (6 of us all learning together) all came back alive - yes!
we (me calum and brad) hired a car and went to stay at cape tribulation - where rainforest meets the sea. brad managed to get a fresh coconut from the tree and smash it open so we strolled along the beech munching on it.... mmmmmm. we stopped at port douglas on the way back down when the lads proceeded to drink loads of wine and basically pester me the whole journey back (as it was unfortunatley my turn to drive - damn!) andafter stressful rid back - nearly wacking the lads round the heads - i returned and had a dead good nights sleep (trust me they become more and more rare the longer you're away) so the next move is a camper van trip with said lads, down the coast..... i'll be sleeping in the bed section designed for kids so i best stop eating for a few days... tee hee!
