It was sad leaving Malibu as we had such a great time with Sandi and Gord but the adventure must continue - there is hunting to be done!
We flew to Calgary with slight trepidation, as we had been unable to contact the B&B that we were booked in at, but we caught a taxi to the address and it existed so we piled on in. It was really well placed, right in Downtown and within walking distance of the bus station and town so we wandered around the corner, had chilli and a bun at Tim Hortons and back to sleep. The next day we found a local outside our place who was really helpful, gave us directions and his street directory to borrow for the day and some helpful advice about the free transit system. We spent the day Downtown, wandering around the mall - like Rundle Mall on a bigger scale - had Butter Chicken with coriander pizza made in an oven converted from a horse trailer, and a homemade sausage hot dog from another stall. Found a market beside a river and slept in the shade by the river like the homeless. It was 34° - much too hot for this time of year here!! We then walked to Calgary Tower - for a map - not to go to the top- I have had my share of high experiences for a while - and wandered down to Fort Calgary for a bit of history. Thoroughly exhausted and heat stressed by this time, we caught the free transit back along 7th and walked home. We had dinner at an Indian restaurant we discovered near home and then went for a walk to recover from all the food at the buffet before bed. Dale, the manager chatted with us while we caught up on internet and offered us a ride to the bus station in the morning which we were very thankful for. Next morning we went searching for an op shop and got Sam a pair of work jeans and me some books for the next leg!!! Then it was off to Medicine Hat to meet Berry and Katie.
