As you drive into Niagara Falls you can already see the mist rising higher then the skyscraper buildings close by. We were suprised by how much mist the falls generated - it sparked alot of excitement as we got closer.
Highlights
The Maid of Mist was wet and wild. It was exhilarating to be able to get so close to the falls. As you enter the mist in the horseshoe falls it is the equivalant of being suddenly caught in torrential rain, much to our suprise we just laughed as the water hammered down on top of us! The super cool ponchos are much needed. I think our pictures of us on the boat say it all as one kind lady struggled to take our photo in the mighty mist.
Viewing the horsefalls from the Canadian side was incredible. You can see the falls from every angle and even touch the top of the falls. The cascading water was mesmorizing. We leant over the side and watched the rapids crashing down for hours. I loved how powerful the falls appeared, a reminder how nature is in control. We enjoyed a yummy lunch by the falls and spent the day walking and watching the American and horseshoe falls.
'Interesting' Moments
Re-entering the US after spending the day in Canada was subject to bigger interrogation compared to when we first entered the US in New York. The officer asked what we had been doing and when we were returning to the UK (fair enough) After answering the questions the officer continued to probe and asked; where do you work, are you still employed, how long are you travelling... He couldn't believe we were travelling for so long and still had jobs to go back to. As he let us re-enter the US he continued talking about us to his colleague. I'm just glad he let us back in!
