Firstly, sorry I didn't post last week. There wasn't much to report on. Kaitlin, Tina and myself spent a relaxing weekend in Jaco, where we had already visited since we didn't want to travel too far. It was fairly uneventful other than sharing a dorm room with a not so pretty smelling German (at least that's what we think he was) man. Other than that the weekend was pretty mild.
Last week went pretty much as all weeks do. I live for tuesdays so I can go to cooking class then wait for the weekend. On Thursday however, Kaitlin and I had the privilage to go back to a local elementary school to work in a second grade classroom. This week since the students were more used to us being there I had the privilage to teach them the numbers 61-90. I loved getting back in front of a classroom. The students there are so eager to learn english and show us what they know. It's absolutely wonderful.
This Friday we didn't have to go to class! YAHOOO! We instead took our last trip as a group to MonteVerde. It was a pretty relaxed trip. On Friday when we arrived, we went to the national park and had a couple of hours to explore. Just teasing one of my groupmates I asked if he was going to be our tourguide through the park. We laughed about it, but in the end he really did guide us through. In the two hours we were there we hiked to all the view points on the map. The hike was fun, but very tiring and unlike hikes I'm used to there isn't really a highest point where you can look out and see something amazing to make you feel like all the work was worth it. Because there wasn't anything OUTSTANDING to see we made many jokes and talked and laughed the whole way. It was nice to get out into the mountains again.
That night was pretty mellow., we all went our seperate ways to find dinner. In our search we found a Peruvian restaurant. Pretty much my dream come true. I ordered my favorite from Sangria, the saltado. Although it was good it didn't have quite the same flavor as George's and I was really missing my gringo killer. Nevertheless it was good to have some familiar food in front of me.
The next day was an adventure I will never forget. I crossed one of my things off my bucket list as well as adding another and crossing it off as well. Included in our package from USAC was a ziplining canopy tour on the longest ziplining tour in Costa Rica. Although trusting my life to some tico guys that couldn't have been much older than me was a test of fate it was well worth it! The ziplining was amazing but the views were outstanding. Towards the end of the ziplining there is a place where you can Tarzan swing. Where you fall off of a platform and swing like tarzan would through the jungle. Holy exilerating! Not to mention scary. It was so much fun! I would do it again!!
That night after returning to the city we went to a dance performance put on at the University. Me, having a dance background was expecting an amazing show. I was let down. I expected traditional latin american dances. There were maybe two and some not so good interpretations of other dances from the Americas. I wasn't impressed, but judging by the reactions of the others I think I judge too harshly.
I'll write after this weekends adventure!
All my love!
Sam

Mom I can't wait to zip line! The dance comment cracked me up!! I'm sure you probably have expectations that may be a little unreasonable. After all, we are So You Think You Can Dance aficionados! Haha
