After waking up at 4.30am to go on our Grand Canyon trip - why that early I hear you ask - well apparantly thats how far away the South Rim is from Vegas - Lame - I wish I'd known before we had booked it!
So after showering and breakfast we were stood outside whilst we waited for our bus, but by 6am we were on our way - or so we thought.
We got taken to an office first where they tried to sell us other stuff like helicopter rides... we just added on an Imax movie about the Grand Canyon.
Once they had given us our free breakfast, they loaded us back onto the buses and we were off...
The ride was pretty boring though... our first stop of the day was at the Hoover Dam - it was rubbish - I thought we would be able to walk on it or something - but we could barely even see over the edge... back on the bus we got and more boring scenery rolled past the window until it was time for another stop off.
This time the stop off was just at a shop though - with a massive queue for the toilet! when we got back onto the bus the driver put a film on that thankfully lasted until we got to the Imax place...
Lunch was included in the trip so thankfully when we got to the Imax place it turned out that there was a Pizza Hut Express there - so for lunch I had the smallest Pizza Hut pizza ever and a drink!
The Imax thing was ok - it was meant to be awesome but I thought it was just OK - there was a cool bit with some rapids though.
After the filmy thing it was thankfully only another 10 minutes to get into the Grand Canyon National Park.
Unfortunatley though as we had decided to take an organised tour rather than do it ourself we didn't get to spend much time at the Canyon itself - only 2 hours and we only got to go to two different viewing points which was slightly rubbish - but the fact that there was loads of snow around totally made up for it... I didn't even know it snowed at the Grand Canyon!!!
There was a really annoying couple on our bus though that ended up just being a joke to Michelle and me - we ended up following them just to laugh at them! They had been really rude to us on the first bus this morning - so we had hoped that when we changed buses they wouldn't be on ours - but when they got on we noticed that they both had on clothes that said "something something" 2005 - living in the past or what? they just had to be made fun of - I even took a photo of them!!!
We left the Grand Canyon at around 5 and were told that we'd be back in Vegas for 9.30 which we thought was great because it meant we could get some dinner and then go out for a bit - but typically half way back when we were at our stop off the bus driver noticed that we had a flat tyre - it was impossible to find someone that would change it for us so we had to wait for ages - suffice to say 9.30 came and went - we didn't get back to the hotel until gone midnight - it spoilt our plans becuase it meant that the Freemonth Street Experience thing that we wanted to see had finished - we just went to bed!
