When we arrived in Melaka we found a guest house to stay in right away. It was a small family run place that they considered more of a home stay than a hostel. Even though they do not live there they have it set up like a house with a kitchen, and a living room full of movies as well as satelite tv.
While the woman running the place got our room ready, her 2 children kept us very entertained. They were 9 and 11 years old and the way they acted reminded us alot of Hanna and Emma. Once we were settled in we went downstairs and played games with the 2 of them for hours. We looked into different attractions to see but it was kind of nice to relax with the kids who instantly seemed to fall in love with us.
The following day we explored the city a little bit and went to a grocery store where we got things to make dinner. It would seem like a nice break to be out of the kitchen for so long, but we were so antsy to cook again that we had to jump at the opportunity. We went back and starting making a delicious stirfry. As much as we would have loved to have something other than Asian food (I'm dying for a giant bowl of spaghetti), the store didn't have much else to offer.
While we were preparing dinner the kids were asking questions and for the recipe, and they sat down and ate with us. It was alot of fun and they just wanted to learn all about where we are from.
For us that was really all that Melaka had to offer, and we left the following morning for Tioman Island. We have heard that this is one of the most relaxing islands we will see, and we plan to spend around 10 days on it.
