Well today we arrived in Varanasi- it is considered to be the most holy city in hinduism. Tomorrow morning we see the sun rise while floating down the Gange river...
After making our way through the Indian immigration this morning from Nepal- it was a long day of driving. The roads are terrible and the traffic is unbelievable. To drive 300km, it meant that we were travelling from sun-up tosun-down. It was such an interesting drive though. Our Indian tour guide is part of a royal family, Prince boovan is his name, he lives in a palace in rajastan. AMAZING
I haven't eaten any meat since i have been here (which is very unlike me)...when i arrived in Kathmandu, the cows were sifting through the rubbish finding scraps to eat. not my style. They are considered Holy by the Hindus, so i will be more than happy to respect and adopt that belief for now :-)
So far i have gone to many temples (both hindu and buddhist), which were over populated by monkeys. They were mesmerising-i could watch them for hours.
I played football with the local nepalese men (who did not speak english but managed to laugh at the idea of a girl playing football)...haha i could so tell. I tried to show them, im a little rusty- im not going to lie :-)
We went walking through the Jungle and canoed through crocodile infested waters. Fog was rising off the water as the sun was rising. it was very eery.
The best bit of all has been bathing with the elephants. WOW. and we also saw the only twin elephants in the world at the Elephant breeding centre in Chitwan.
best be off as we do have an early rise in the morning...i will post up photos as soon as i can
