Well after last night everyone was tired and slept fairly soundly. Jason got up with the kids and I managed to doze until about 9:30 which was nice. We had decided to have a quiet day at the beach, which the girls were excited about. We headed for the sand around ten and the kids were thrilled to be told by a family already on the beach that they could play with their abundant beach toys. The family was from Germany and had 3 girls all older but who were happy to play with em and meg. Jason went to cook lunch (what should have been dinner last night!) while we continued our sandy activities of sandcastle building, tunnel making and a bit of sand car digging.
We went back to the tent for lunch (some weird inverted hamburger triangles with eggplant and cheese inside - greasy) and then Jason and felix had a nap while I took the girls to finish the washing and check out the playground. We pottered around there for a while and ventured onto the soccer court for some chasey, which wasn't a goo idea as a) meg was supposed to be resting her knee instead of running around, and b) she then tripped and fell, skinning the knee further and grazing and bashing an enormous lump on her forehead. Oh dear. To soothe spirits, we walked up to the nearby shops to find an ice-cream - easier said than done! Of course most places were still shut for the siesta time, and those that were open had no ice-cream. After a thorough search, we came up trumps with some icy poles from a little cafe. At least the little people were happy.
Back at the beach, the girls played happily with their new friends. While I was cooking dinner later, Emily brought them all to see the tent and we learnt their names. There was Svea who was a tiny 15yr old, Inga at 11 who played with em the most, and Nele at 8 whose English wasn't quite up to playing yet. Very sweet girls. They were holidaying for a week in a rented motorhome. Poor meg was still below par as she didn't want any dinner, began complaining of her knee being sore and requested to go to bed at 5:30. It was nice to have a quiet day, and everyone was in bed by 7! Amazing.
