There's been so much going on lately - surprisingly for the small town I live in - so I'm going to try and squish it all in!
The first weekend I was here my town had a Stadtfest. The main street was chocca with singers, bands, street dancers, martial arts demonstrations and gymnastic shows. Also, we had the best dark chocolate and orange ice cream in the world!
The week after (and every week from then on) my host family and I were invited to the neighbours' for dinner - pizza night is magic, I love it. They have two teenage sons, so it's good to get to know people more my own age that aren't my pupils and so don't associate me with grammar!
The following weekend my parents came to visit, bringing the rest of my wardrobe, which I'm so grateful for - I was getting bored of the minimal clothing I originally brought. Plus they brought all my kit so I can go running with one of the neighbours and I go swimming too.
I've been to Frankfurt a few times with friends, the most recent trip involving climbing walls in the centre (obviously HAD to do that), half litre glasses of cider, amaretto crepes and some wonderful Oktoberfest outfits called Dirndls (embarrassing photos to come).
Things at school have been going really well. I've been taking a more active role with the y5s - I taught them the time last week, I'm so pleased I imparted knowledge. I was a tad nervous but I got to make a clock and a pair of hands with actual hands so all was well. I was also invited by the Leistungs Kurse to go to the English Theatre in Frankfurt with them to see The Importance of Being Earnest. It was brilliant and surprisingly funny, so it was a really good night - dinner was even included!
Last week I was got invited on a school trip with my year 9 class to the Kletterwald in our town. Think Go Ape and Aerial Extreme and ice cream afterwards and you've got a cracking day. Totally fell off but it's all good.
The October half term's coming up soon and we (me, Sarah and Richard) are trying to plan a sort of Eurotrip with Interrail cards, so we'll see how that goes. Cannot wait though.
