Hey guys I am now in the south island we are moving super fast but fitting lots in so all is well. I left off as I was about to go to Wellington where we arrived and had quite a bit of hassle trying to park Norman as we were staying in a hostel and the car park was too small for him so drove around trying to find on street parking. That night Steph and I went out and had a really good time at a hostel bar and met some locals who offered to show us aroun the next day which was cool. Kta and Paul stayed in to watch the football but I wasn't very interested in that. So the next day the guys showed us around Wellington and took us to a good point to overlook the city but it wasnt the nicest of days weather wise. Then we went to Te Papa when of New Zealands best museums and it was pretty good I learnt quite a bit. Then we went on the cable car to the government gardens which were nice. For the rest of the time we generally took in the atmospher went for coffee as they are known for their coffee shops i had a mocha it was very nice.
From here we caught the ferry over to the South Island and made our way straight to Abel Tasman national park which is just beautiful we went and saw split apple rock which apparently NZ is famous for but i had never seen it before. Then the next day we got a water taxi to bark bay and then did a 22km walk back but the guys in the office told us it was 11km so we had to rush a bit to get back before dark. Me and Steph crossed a lagoon thing to cut out time but the water was freezing but it was fun. The national park is just beautiful with the bright golden beaches would be lovely to go to in the summer when the water is actually warm enough that you want to go in.
Now we have made our way down to Franz Josef Glacier via the Nelson lakes that were very pretty and also pancake rocks which are rock forms which have eroded to supposedly look like a stack of pancakes I am not conviced how much they represent pancakes but they were cool to see. We drove down by the coast but the weather has not been that great so we have missed out on some scenery but there is plenty more to come. I am soooo excited for glacier walking tomorrow it should be amazing will let yiou know how it goes. Miss you lots x x x
