Got up very early to meet the girls at their hotel. The taxi driver dropped me at the wrong place so I was wondering around the streets for a while -market stalls were everywhere and did not see any tourists at all despite the palace being near! Eventually found their hotel which was amazing - beautiful view over the river and temple opposite.
Got in a taxi boat to cross river - very very hot day. We climbed this temple tower which was quite steep and mooched around the temples. Got into a boat on the river and saw all the houses - or rather the shacks - lined up on the river bed. This was my favourite part of the day - very relaxing and interesting. We even saw a couple of baby crocodiles!
We were dropped off in China town and had some very nice lunch. Again the streets are packed with stalls - so busy and bustling. Liked it a lot though. Went through thieves market and then got a tuk tuk to see the reclining Buddha = it just looked exactly like Aladdin in real life - it was immense. Had a wonderful full body massage (with clothes on) where she stretched and pulled - but was not as aggressive as the one the night before! Said goodbye to the girls as I was to meet my tour group.
Arrives at my room and thought there was a burglar in there but it was only my room mate from the tour! That was a shock but we clicked straight away as she mocked my ditzyness! Met the group, did paper work and listened to our tour guide talk... a lot. Went out for dinner and this was when I realised how cheap Bangkok really was! Went to Kho Sam Rd for a drink too. Really lovely people.
