Today we proved how experienced we are at travelling by plane by nearly missing the last call for our flight. Those that know me and flying will wonder how this could possibly happen as I am usually at the airport, in the departure lounge and pushing to the front of the queue before anyone else has arrived.
We had a camera issue. Connor took ours to Derby and Steve left his work one- well- at work. We were therefore in the duty free Dixons deciding which camera to buy and completely forgot we were at the airport to catch a flight. I was going to ask the chap to set the camera up for us but luckily took a quick glance at the departures board. We could not believe the big red letters – Last Call- for our flight. We rushed off to find we had to get a train to the departure gate and there wasn’t one for 3 minutes! Longest 3 minutes of my life- well it could have been. I was quite chilled- Steve was planning how to be reunited with our bags as they were on the plane.
No need. We just swanned through the gate and got on the plane finding two seats together just like that. Easy!
When you get into the old city of Split it is just beautiful. The roman influenced architecture has survived and we ate dinner in the Dalmatian Palace- an open air ex emperors’ place. When it got dark we walked through and found an amazing square outside a bar where we listened to live music sitting on the stone steps admiring the fantastic stone surroundings. Shame the new camera was still charging.
