Here's Del coming down the stairway. You can see how steep and narrow it is, and carved out of the hillside.

Are you looking up or down? Actually it's down, way down, about 1000 feet. Del and I went about 1/4 of the way to the three sisters but the rest of the way was closed as a landslide last week had torn some on the stairway off the cliff.

This is the first of the three sisters. Del and I eventually climbed down under this rock, but the trail was so steep Denise and Maria stayed behind.

You can see here along the trail that the ground is all sandstone and had eroded away from the roots of this tree.
