Atonces, (that means "so")
the rest of the weekend was pretty quiet, I was tired from the surfing and wanted to crack on with my homework and revision. A new girl arrived at the house from and yep you guessed it...Germany. Her name is Jessica and she is so sweet however a few issues with not wearing deodorant but i"m learning thats just how they are.
Saturday night I went to Pame"s and played guitar hero with Mile and Mariana, and Jessica, and it was sureal as these girls were going all at it with the microphone and guitar but playing System of a Down songs and absolutely loving it. (for those who dont know...system of a down is a hard core heavy band, quite a lot of screaming amungst the apparent melodies)
It was great fun. We all took turns playing the guitar and singing along with everything and screaming at the tv when we needed to according to the game and yeah , very fun and chilled out.
The next day I took Jessica into town to show her the bus routes and the mall. That evening I went round to Pame"s again as her brother had just come back to visit from the states and bought two girls from Virginia with him. Meridith and Jennifer. Meridith was here just to have a holiday but Jennifer was attending the same school as me for the next two weeks and I went round to show her the text books and go through how the school is set up etc. They all seemed very lovely and so for the next two weeks I hung out with Jennifer at school and had a blast.
The next week at school was awesome. Everyone in my class had gone home so it was just me and my teacher, private lessons all week and so I managed to finish the first text book and move onto the next. Very proud of myself hahaha.
Since Robin and Steve left that Sunday for the States I had a lot of time to chat with Jennifer and she is a fascinating lady. She lived in Saudi Arabia when she was little, and by the sounds of it travelled around alot with her parents and sister before settling down in Richmond, Virginia. After being a manager for a MAC makeup store in the US she decided to go back to school and while working in a really swish hair and beauty salon she is training to get the cosmetology ( i think thats the word) license and is very artistic, loves to dance and will chat all day long about the old spanish bolleros. Very cool.
Thursday of that week we all went out dancing at a salsa club. it was great fun. first time i"ve really bothered to put on makeup since leaving England, shame that i forgot that i didnt bring makeup remover so the next day I woke up like a panda but hay.
The club was really cool, the guys there were of all ages and all they wanted to do was to dance, they didnt want your number, didnt want your body, didnt want anything, just to dance, it was so refreshing. i started dancing with this cute youngling of about 20 years old but he didnt have any patience with me and couldnt be bothered to teach me the basic moves and so i had to sit down, then a much older guy of about 40 ish from mexico asked to dance and showed me everything, really slowly and i got it pretty quick. it was amazing! he was so sweet and was just up for having a good time. and dancing with a guy who actually knows how to dance is wonderful, i dont really have to know what to do as they spin you round before you even know you have ever spun. it was when he dropped me to the floor for some amazing dip that i may have screamed hahah.
The next day I got up at 5 in the morning, stupid aclock if you ask me, and made my way to catch the bus into town and then walked to school to catch the 6.30 am bus to the white water rafting excursion! arh !!! it was AMAZING. i went alone of course but met some really nice people there. The journey was about an hour on the bus and when we got there we were given fresh fruit and eggs and a really good breakfast. unfortunately i found a really long thick blakc hair in my eggs so i was put off from eating any food there for the rest of the day lol. what a way to loose weight!
I was put in a boat with a really nice American family who were from the OC. Two boys , a girl and their parents. Really nice, very welcoming and out here for 8 days to do a hard core trip of traveling round the country before the kids went back to school and college.
The rafting was magnificent, it was a rating of 4 on the severity of strengh of the rapids and our guide was great. We would raft through these violent rapíds and then high five our oars together when we realised we hadn{t drowned and then drift quietly along the calm waters looking up at the vast jungle surrounding us on either banks. It was a complete contrast to rafting in Canada but neither could be compared. They were both just as fun and staggeringly beautiful, just very different in the vegitation.
We stopped off for lunch after two hours of being on the river and after that spent another two hours battling it out on the river till we managed to drift into camp.
I bid farewell and good luck to the nice family i had rafted with that day and hopefully will be able to meet up in LA once I get out there.
I snoozed on the way back home on the bus while I tried to compose some more lyrics.
I got back and slept as I had yet another day of getting up early the next day as me, Pame, Jennifer, Meridith and Mau (pame"s brother) were all going to Monte Verde to go Canopying in and amungst the tree tops of the exotic jungles!
