Memphis was almost as awesome as Nashville. On the way, we stopped at a little bbq shack which is pretty famous in Tennessee and I had a jumbo bbq sandwich was basically bbq pulled pork in soft bread with bbq sauce and it was so good! We were staying at a big campsite next to the "heartbreak hotel" and in the evening the camp was putting on an Elvis impersonator show. On the RV's and tents was various Elvis memorabilia so as you can already see, the place is centred around Elvis, who lived, made music and died there. In general, the whole place is focused on Blues music. Our group split in the day to either Graceland or Sun studios and I chose sun studios. These were the studios that Elvis, Johnny Cash and various other big artists recorded and made it big. It was a really cool little place and our guide was so knowledgeable and fun. At the end, down in the actual recording bit we got to pose with the mic that Elvis actually recorded on and a group of us recreated a picture of Elvis, Johnny Cash and a couple of others jamming round the piano! It was a really cool day and we all enjoyed Memphis. Shame we had to go to KFC for dinner because the rice, tomato sauce and chicken cooked at camp was barely edible!
