We wrote a wish list of things to do in NZ and seeing an All Blacks game was on it, luckily there was a match that weekend, in Dunedin which is only 2 hours away and against Australia! Anyone who's been here will know that anytime NZ play Oz at anything it is going to be interesting.
After having to call the tickets line 63 times we finally confirmed out tickets the day before the match. We drove over to Dunedin and picked up the tickets pretty easily. San bought an All Blacks flag and we walked into town for a beer before the game. They had closed off the centre of town as a place to drink, listen to music and watch the match so we grabbed a beer and hung around for a bit before heading over to the match.
Our seats were five rows from the front which was great, we saw the guys warming up and some pre show entertainment including NZ's first X factor winner singing, seems to be a bigger deal over here than back home where we seem to have far too many X factor winners around.
Unfortunately the Hakka was facing the other way but still looked pretty scary! The first half was great and although Australia scored first the All Blacks started to dominate and got ahead. We were looking forward to the second half thinking the change of ends would mean we'd be a lot closer to the All Black scoring action however they slowed down a lot and Australia started to claw points back and a lot of the action was down the wrong end again! The buzzer went at 80 minutes but the match was still going waiting for the ball to go out of play and the game actually ended when over half the player had collapsed on the pitch because they were exhausted!
It ended All Blacks 41, Australia 33 and was one thing definitely ticked off the wish list.
