Hey all
Well well well...what have we been up to sonce our last blog post?? I actually did struggle remembering but with both of our thinking caps on, we rekon we can remember everything....so here goes!
After recovering from the Hill Tribe trek in the north of Thailand, we ventured even further North where our base was Chang Rai...i know trhey re not very original with theie city names (Chang Rai and Chang Mai, very confusing) Chang Rai was nt the best city we've been to, in fact it was probably the worst, so we made sure we spent as little time as poss there. A visit to the Golden Triangle, which is where the something river (forget its name) splits Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. The views ionto the three countries were amazing, and standing on the Thai soil, we could even see Cgina in the distance. A quick trip accross to Laos on a speedy longboat was good fun and even managed to try some whiskey with Cobra in it...very strange.
After our 2 nights in Chang Rai, where the best place to be was the smallest and most random bar that we found, we headed back down to Chang Mai for a the day and boarded the night train to Bangkok. Unfortunately no drunk Thai men to entertain us this time!!
Back in Bangkok we met some more members that were joining our group and did the usual meet and greety dinner followed by a fairly big night out on the main street again....its almost our local now!! The following day we decided to go to the Grand Palace as that was the big must see that we had nt seen yet. Really impressive place and alot more modern than i thought it would be....The King was not to be seen anywhere which was a bit off i think....i mean he could have invited us for a drink or something! Prob the most random thing in the Grand Palace was that Bryn saw one of his friends from Uni that used to live next to him....very strange especially umongst all the people there!!
After yet another overnight train where we said goodgbye to Bangkok (for the final time) and hello to Ko Sohk national Park. The national park area is supposed to be the oldest rain forest in the world, so it was bound to be spectacular...and that it was! It really earnt its name as it rained pretty much non stop for the 2 days were there...and not just your english drizzle...this was big tropical rain. After a day of charades and cards on the first day, we ventures out on a trek in the rainforest on the second day despite the rain. Getting soaked and muddy was well worth it as the jungle was amazing...we managed to follow a guide who chopped down bamboo which we could then drink the water out of and made straws to drink straight from the standing shoiot!! The guide had obviously done this before as he caught a gekko and a lizard with wings, which was really impressive. It felt alot like we were in Jurassic Park actually!
We left the rain behind, to everybodies relief, and headed for the promise land which was the beach island of Ko Samui. The beaches here are fantastic, your typical white sand blue water beaches with plenty of sun!! Even had our first beach party on the beach in front of our accomadation with midnight skinny dipping part of the fun! As Bryn was sufferingt with a bit of a dodgy stomach today, I decided to venture out and explore the Is;and, so rented a scooter for the day for only 2 pound and drove all around the Island and found some great secluded beaches!
Heading out to a lady boy show tonight atlast!! been in Thailand 3 weeks and still havent dragged our curious arses to one! Saw a few on the street last night and they looked pretty convincing which is worrying...will let you all know how the lady boy cabaret went next time.
ANywho, gotta go and de-smelify for the lady boys...speak soon and hope everybody back at home is doing well
Love Ryan and Bryn
