Helloooo
Really sorry its been so long, we have been away from civilisation for a few days. So, what have we been up to? We have been in Bangkok since last friday. Hot, humid, smelly but great. We have travelled on tuk tuks... three wheel motorbike type things which go in and out of the traffic in the most dangerous situations, they are an experience.
We have visited all of the temples, seen the standing Buddha, sitting Buddha, lying down buddha etc etc. They are all very cool, but started to get fed up of the buddhas so we went on a tour for three days... paid a little too much (they do say nobody escapes Bangkok without getting ripped off). Glad we went though, it was so relaxing. We visited the floating market, great to see but sadly it has turned in to to much of a tourist attraction. After that we went to see the snake show.... oh my god.... it was awful, they had the biggest and most horrible snakes in front of us, teasing them so they would bite. At one point they dropped a cobra in a glass box with a mongoose (the only animal that can kill the cobra) they had a massive fight, until after a minute they were seperated. I was hoping for a decapated cobra to be honest.
In the afternoon we went to see the Bridge over the river kwei. It was cool to see and walk around, i think we are going again with the tour that we booked in the UK. Going to see the tiger temple afterwards was an experience, it was a farm run by monks. You could go and stroke the tigers (literally massive, and no the teeth and claws were not removed). Also witnessed feeding time for the wild boars, horses. bulls etc, the monks threw food all around us and the anaimal charged for us. I thought that was the end of life as we know it.
We stayed in the floating guesthouse on the river kwei last night and the night before, it was so cool. We woke up in the morning to elephants eating the bushes and the sound of monkeys. Ryan was in his element because he had the opportunity to play football with some local lads, but instead of dodging the dog pooh it was elephant pooh! At the floating guesthouse we met up with some people from the Nederlands, they were cool (one of them was in the qualifying round for eurovision...trust.)
Yesterday we went to the rainforrest and visited the seven tier waterfall, really nice. There were wild monkeys, snakes up the trees (after watching the snake show i was s***ting myself). Swimming under the waterfalls was great, except the fish kept nibbling our feet and they werent small fish either!).
Today has been a good day, we went trekking on elephants this morning, that was fantastic. It was not commercialised at all, the elephants could go where they liked and do what they liked. We also went rafting on a bamboo raft down the river kwei today, that was good fun. Before heading back to Bangkok we visited hell fire passage (part of the death railway), that was interesting.
We join our tour tomorrow, so may not be able to get on the internet again for a little bit.
Oh and before i forget, last night we were drinking in the gueshouse bar and had a drink with a Bangkok chick boy.... he/she would talk for a minute and then suddenly burst into song....i think he/she covered most hits in the last twenty years in under an hour. Oh and we have bumped into somebody we met in HongKong....It is a small world.
Speak soon, Lots of love
Bryn and Ryan x
