G'day all!

Apologies for the lack of blog for a while but its been a busy past few weeks. Anyway, as you may know I'm in Melbourne at the moment and I have been looking for somewhere to live and a job. After 3 weeks of searching I've finally got them both sorted, for now anyway. I moved into a house last week in Fairfield which is a suburb north of the city. I'm living with 2 girls, 2 guys, all Australian and a mix of students and full time workers. The house is pretty good and its been good to have a room of my own but I'm thinking of moving down to St Kilda next month which has more of a backpacker population, I'll see how it goes.

I have a temporary job till November 6th which mainly consists of opening letters and counting them as part of an election. The job is very monotonous but is well paid and there is a good group of people doing it so I'm happy with that. My plan for the next couple of months is to save as much money as possible so that I can travel Australia and Asia well. I will almost certainly be home later than February now because I need longer in Australia to work but at the minute my plans depend on how much money I can save and how quickly.

Melbourne itself is a really nice city and i've enjoyed staying here so far. There is a lot of really nice bars and cafes both in the centre and in the suburbs. I'm yet to take a single picture in Australia and I haven't really seen that much so far but its been good to not be a tourist for a change.

My most exciting Australian story so far is my first encounter with a possum. I was sitting out the front of my house and saw what to me looked like a giant rat walking along the electricty cables, it turned out to be a possum. Can't say I liked the look of it and I hear they can be quite vicious but I think they generally stay out of sight.

For the next couple of months there isn't going to be much to report as I won't be doing any travelling, mainly working (I hope) but soon I'll be back on the road again with plenty of stories and photos. I hope everyone is well back at home and again, I apologise for not updating my blog or at leat posting a message sooner. At some point I will try to get my videos of bungy jumping and sky diving on here as well.
