Once we crossed the border then the fun started. We had a 5 hr journey by ute (pick up truck) through cambodia to SIam Reap. wow what an amazing adventure it was!!!! there were 5 of us in the back of this truck, sitting on our backpacks, getting covered in dust on the worst roads ( if you could call it a road) you could imagine.
We saw some amazing sights on the way, it was such a shock! we wnet through the shanty towns, past rice fields that went as far as the eye could see, we saw huge water buffalo and lots of amazing, smiling children who waved at us and shouted 'hello!'as we drove past. It was a once in a lifetime experience!. At a stop in this little village, where the car was cleaned from dust (what the point was, we don't know!) the locals gave us a cricket to taste! it was really tasty. Once you pull the antenna off just monch it down. yum yum.
After arriving with bruised bottoms from the trip in the truck, we had a well deserved shower and beer.
Then yesterday we spent an amazing day at Angkor Wat. We were up at 4 to go and see sunrise over this ancient city with the most amazing structures from thousands of years ago... it was a great sight.
We spent the rest of the day on a guided tour of the temples, took 100's of pics as you can't describe in words the sight of it. To finish the dya off, we went to a landmine museum, which was very moving showing the destruction caused. it is run by people who have suffered from them
So tomorrow we are off to the capital Phenom Pheh, this is where all the old Khmer Rouge stuff is, so its gonig to very interesting.
So, Cambodia is an amazing country, very hot , humid and tonnes of history and poverty, but is really a good sight to see the smiling happy children.
We're off to bed now as we have an early start, we will upload pics soon.
See you in a few weeks.
R & A xx
