So after leaving Fiji..it was on to Hawaii despite its illustrious reputation, it really didn’t appeal to us…Cobb1 and Barne have been to Hawaii so informed us of things to do and see etc. We were more excited for the sun, by this time we knew we were going home early, so really wanted to go home brown. Cobb1 and Barne very kindly (again really helping us out after the Fiji experience!) put Bubba and I up in the Hyatt hotel, which looks directly over Waikiki beach. Probably the best hotel I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. So I must make a point to thank Cobb1 and Barne for that, It was amazing. We sat by the pool the first few days enjoying the sunshine and fantasising about going home. Then after our three day stay at the Hyatt we needed to find a hostel so decided to stay at the Beachside hostel, Compared to Mana island the hostel was a godsend, running water and a proper bed (that I didn’t have to share!) however compared to the Hyatt…was very, very poor! Hawaii is amazing. I think every person on this planet would like to have the opportunity to go. Its very American and very Eastern at the same time, how that works…well lots of American shops, fast food chains etc etc and TONS of eastern people. I mean tons! Copious amounts, I don’t think it helps we were there for golden week, like the emperors birthday and all the Japanese workforce get a holiday anywhere in the world paid for by there employer…and would you believe they come to Hawaii. I have no clue why, apart from the whole pearl harbour thing!? Anywho, we loved it, sunshine everyday guaranteed, and the sea was amazing. We were just chilling about before coming home. So we didn’t want to do a great deal. Two things on the agenda, shark dive (yes u heard me right â€" diving with the second most dangerous shark alive, tiger sharks.) so we booked in the shark diving, and would you believe another guy doing a tour happened to be a guy from Taunton, who knew all my friends and I knew his, but we didn’t know each other! Very bizarre, the shark diving was amazing. I know I use that word a lot in these posts, but seriously how do you describe having a 14ft pregnant feisty tiger shark open up its mouth and eat fish whole whilst you are sat about a foot away. You cant describe it. I don’t even think pictures do it justice. Exhilarating…We did rent a Jeep, I wound Sarah up saying we couldn’t get one, then went down to the rental office and got a brand new one, a lovely vehicle. So we decided to venture off from Waikiki, and hit the north shore. WOW, what a place…the swells, unbelievable powerful enough to knock grown men over, and breaking right on the shore. We never jumped in from the big rock, and we will always regret this, however it makes us determined to go back though. We had a great time driving around in that jeep. It was amazing. Roof down and just being on the road, I hadn’t driven in a good 8 months! So I was a little rusty to say the least but she is a good navigator! I cant really talk about Hawaii without mentioning Dakotah. As Sarah was lucky enough to find her prince charming on the trip I didn’t think we both would meet that special someone. Obviously it took me a bit longer but I had finally met someone who challenged me on every level. And I loved it…and coincidently now, her aswell. Hawaii will always have a special place in my heart because I met Dakotah here, she is perfect, shame it took me so long to meet her and the fact she lives so far away, you know what they say though…â€Âif its meant to be, it will be†I never really liked or agreed with that saying but I guess now im trying to. Our last day in Hawaii, Sarah, Dakotah and I went to pearl harbour, this place is eerie, you stand above a sunken vessel which is still visible, and some 1400 marines lay below you dead. In an underwater tomb. It was horrible, but educational. Il never forget that day as my two favourite girls were getting along and talking the whole time (kinda left me out!) it was great to see my best friend approving for once. So that was Hawaii really. Lots of sunbathing and swimming oh and gyming..yes readers you don’t need to adjust your glasses. Sarah talked me into joining the gym for my last month away! We done spin every night for two weeks and didn’t eat more than about a runner bean per day. I was famished for two weeks. I think we both came back looking better than we did in Fiji. Remember, lying down all day then drinking all night. So I thank her now in hindsight.
