Having a beautiful ride through the mountains and then decided it was time to go up Pikes Peak. Paid my $12 and on I went. Unfortuantely I only made it up to the 11 mile marker ( it is 19 at the top) and my bike broke down.
There was no cell phone service at this point. (at about 10,000 feet). Had a passing Pikes Peak Ranger by the name of Lt. O'Brien call the American Motorcycle Association to get a two truck to come get me and take my bike to Apex Yamaha in Colorado Springs. It is now after 6 PM on Saturday and too late for them to order the parts that my bike needs. They open up again on Tuesday and they will order the part overnight at that time. Meanwhile, I am stranded without lodging. The Marriott is all full up, which is where I have Reward points for free lodging, and my other option was a small motel one block from the motorcycle dealer. $62, no air conditioning, and of questionable repute. Locked the door, and put a chair under the knob. Took out a sleeping blanket and slept on TOP of the covers. yes, it was that bad. Will have to figure out other lodging arrangements. I cant just go to a campground since I have no way to secure my property and would have to just sit there non-stop until next thurdsday when they exspect to be done fixing my bike. We'll see.
