Sadie and Steve's (not Steve and Sadie's) travel b
Oh dear, I feel like a bit of a fool, I've only just realised that we had messeges from people, sorry, only took me nearly four months to work it out. Well I didn't actually work it out it was only cos Mum said there was a messege about Si moaning about the lack of blogging, woops. Anyway, thanks for all your messeges, even if it took us two months to read them. I know its been a pretty poor show with the whole blogging thing, but its really difficult finding time to keep these things up to date!
Anyway, heres a quick lowdown of our adventures over the last couple of months. Basically our plans of staying in Thailand for two months took a bit of a de-tour. The organisation we went through in Thailand, were a bit, well pants really, lots of having to wait around on your arse not really doing much, we stuck with them for a month, but after that we decided to do one and do our own thing for the last month. We did get to do some cool things while we were in Thailand; climbed down a waterfall in the jungle, and steve got a wonky haircut, which was quite good to laugh at for a few hours. It was also the monsoon season in Thailand, and it turns out the monsoon is fun for the first 5 minutes, but after that you realsie, actually there's not really much i can do when its pissing it down all the time.
So, anyway...we decided to head south to Malaysia, where its the dry season, yay! Malaysia's been really great, and its got a lot more chilled out, less touristy vibe than Thailand. Spent a few days in Kuala Lumpur, went up some tall bulidings and ate lots of great food for stupidly low prices. Then we headed north to a rainforest (the oldest in the world apparently). We did a tour for a few days, little treks and going in caves and getting covered in bat poo, lovely! then we decided to venture off on our own on a two day trek, don't worry dad it was perfectly safe. We camped out in the jungle for a couple of nights. The second day, there were leeches everywhere, urgh they're horrible, you couldn't stand still for more than a few seconds without getting a load of them crawling up your boot, in there weird slinkly like manner. We were a bit freaked out, so we basically walked solidly for five hours. I sweated more than I thought physically possible, the next dat when we got on the bus steve said he actually saw a guy hold is nose as we walked pass, the showers that day were soooo good.
Next we headed north to the Perentian Islands. We stayed in a place that had this gorgeous beech all to itself. The owners were so lovely, one night they woke us up at about 2:30 to show us a turtle that had come up on the beach to lay its eggs. We did a bit of snokelling, saw lots of pretty fish, inlcuding little Nemo's (so cute) aslo some sharks (kinda scary) and turtles, was really amazing.
The last few days we've been travelling around a few towns. Went to what the Rough Guide told us would be some natural hot springs, but has actually now been turned into a waterpark, bit of a let down, thats what you get for buying an old out of date second hand Rough Guide, but a least some of the slides were quite good.
And now we're in Singapore, arrived here yesturday, so far it seems pretty cool, everything so clean. We have to be careful what we do, because even things like not flushing the public loos are illegel and don't really want to pick up any hefty fines.
Anyway...probably should go now cos we've got quite alot to pack in our last few days, and steve looks like he's getting a bit bored. Simon, hope that makes up slightly for the extensive lack of blogging, better late than never hay ; ) Hope everyone is great back home, its only a few days and we'l be there as well, can't beleive how quick its gone! Looking forward to coming back and seeing everyone though, and having a good old english bar-b-que, with lots and lots of meat, feel free if anyone wants to arrange that!
So, see you soon at some point hopefully!
Bye for now
Lots of love Sadie and Steve (he is here, honest!)
