Well when I left you I was about to do a canyon swing in Queenstown. Well now I have done it (obviously), infact twice as it was only $10 more. The second time I even jumped with a garden chair in tow! (dont ask - just see the DVD when I get back).
Since then we had a chlled day in Queenstown on the 4th playing a bit of footy at the local park, walking round the shops and stuff and then a sunday roast in the evening. On the 5th we moved on to Christchurch for one night and ended up staying in the penthouse of the Base hostel we stayed in for an extra $2 which included our own sky TV, PS2 including FIFA (Phil will be jelous) and kitchen area. We also indulged in a cheap curry together. We then moved further up the East coast on the 6th to Kaikoura which is an absolutely beautiful place. There I had the pleasure of doing the laundry and bumping into a talking bird - literally the funnyiest thing ever! In the evening we also had another quiz, again we didnt do that great!
Then we once again crossed to the North Island to Wellington on the 7th and celebrated Barnaby and Rich's last night with the group with a night out of course, lucky for us it was student night as well so it made it considerably cheaper! We then had a couple of free days in Wellington on the 8th and 9th and went out to the Te Papa Museum, a comedy show (as it was the New Zealand international comedy festival) which was pretty average unfortunately and then out to the super 14s rugby the next day and a walk through the City, which included seeing some street performers.
The 10th saw us travelling North further still to our penultimate destination and onnce again back to Taupo. We played some more footy - this time with a bigger group after we arrived before a quiet night with some films. The morning of the 11th was early as I was picked up at 6.30 to do the Tongariro Crossing: a 17km walk over some mountains (including Mount Doom from Lord of the Rings); It was absolutely beautiful and got some stunning views, quite hard but we were going at quite a pace at thr front as it became apparent because we arrived 2.5 hours ahead of the last group and over 1.5 hours ahead of the majority of the group. The beer afterwards was perhaps the nicest ever though!
Then today saw us come back up to Auckland for the final few days before moving on to Malaysia to Join Phil and Jade for a little while, it will be nice to see some faces from home, even though they haven't been home in a while!
Thats it for now and my next post is likely to come from Malaysia so goodbye from New Zealand folks x
