Today was our free day in Rome, sunny and 35 degrees, it was far too hot. We started with a tour of the vatican city. Touring 3 museums and St Peters Basillica. All in all an amazing insight into the catholic world. The art collection and architecture was absolutely stunning, 3 hours was not nearly enough time. Next was a pizza lunch on the patio, followed by the roman forum. The forum was nice to see, but we arrive too late to get an audio tour. After about an hour of exploring the forum (about half of it), we headed to the collosseum. Amazing! The pictures will not do the size any justice. I wish the floor level was still open to the public.
After the collosseum we went back to the hotel for a shower, and ten of us headed out for an Italian pasta dinner on a patio, followed by drinks at a river side bar with live entertainment.
An amazing city, definitely one to return to!
