Wed 30th we went snorkeling on the great barrier reef, it was rubbish, saw some fish, a bit of coral...boring! Not really,it was incredible, amazing, fantastic, stupendous, words or photos cant describe how brilliant it was. It took about 90mins to get out to the reef, the view from on top of the water was pretty special in itself. As soon as we got there we saw a turtle on the surface. We got all our gear on, yes i know we look like idiots in our stupid blue stinger suits but its a good job we did coz we saw a few jellyfish. The colours of the coral and fish was mind blowing,so beautiful,we saw parrot fish, big puffer fish, moray eels the list is endless, we even found nemo. On top of that we saw and swam with a green turtle which was so cool! The only thing we didnt see was a reef shark, someone else on the boat saw one but we couldnt spot any. They put on a good feed for us at lunch while we moved to another spot on the reef where we saw more different coral and fish, we splashed around for a couple more hours then headed back to Cairns. What a day. Rox and Jay Thursday the 31st we went on a horse riding trip at blazing saddles, they also do quad bikes and i thought that was more my style but on the other hand ive never riden a horse so thought id give it a go. I was like the lone ranger on my trusty white steed, Misty. With my side kick behind me riding Brownie, we galloped into the sunset, When i say galloped, i mean walked. When i say sunset, i mean mud and trees. The guide didnt give us much confidence from the start, as he was saying how some of the horses done like each other and so they have to go in a certain order or they will be biting and kicking. One horse called Cheeky, kept trying to bite the man when putting the saddle on, this horse was behind Rox and her horse didnt like that much. The one in front of me got kicked in the face by the one in front of that. It was abit scary, how can they be so big and strong when all they do is eat grass. We walked around single file for a few hours, through the bush, up some hills and down some hills and through the creeks. It was really good. Rox was gutted that we didnt get up to a canter. I was happy just walking. On the Friday morning, i went fishing....thats right, more fishing. I was on the boat with the guide and an older Auzzie couple, our guide caught us some live bait in a big net and we went out to the Cairns estuary. I ended up catching 9 fish, 6 different species. I really wanted to catch a queenfish, the guide said i had no chance as the tide was'nt right so i caught one anyway. Also had a hammerhead shark, the Auzzie couple could only manage one fish each so you can imagine the stick i got. I didnt rub it in much thou. That arvo, we drove up to Port Douglas and to Mossman gorge in the Daintree National Park which is a part of the oldest rainforest in teh world and a beautiful part of the country. We had a long walk through the forest, we then went to see 3 waterfalls within 5km's of each other. Including Millaa Millaa where Peter Andre shot his mysterious girl video. We also went to see the curtain fig tree which is the biggest in Oz. We're now at Airlie beach, booked a sailing trip for Friday to go around the Whitsunday Islands. Jay & Rox
